The Story of The Golden Rule
What began as a few songs during the pandemic turned into an imaginary musical world of emotional intelligence based content for children. Inspired by her time as an educator and nanny, Mangos and Tangos is the brainchild of creator and singer-songwriter
Alex Yeomanson. In her soundtracks she is better known as Allie Mango.
Inspired by Yeomanson's time working as a nanny and music teacher, the stories and songs of Mangos and Tangos focus on emotions and growing up. At the heart of the story is a silent, tiny, mellow, yellow fellow, Freddie Mustard, who is the physical embodiment of The Golden Rule (the practice of treating others the way would like to be treated). His sister, Marigold Mustard MFT, owns and operates Golden Family Therapy, and exists to normalize the career of Therapist and process of seeking therapy to parents and children alike. The Mustards live on nanny Allie Mango's fictional musical island with local celebrities, The Howling Girls, octogenarians, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, coffee shop owner, Mr. Possible, his singing cat, Chi Chi, and the ever nefarious, Mr. Mean Marty. This diverse group of befuddled and well-intentioned characters sing, learn, and grow more and more each time Allie Mango tells their stories in a series of musical letters. With music produced by Jon O'Brien, season one touches on kindness, vulnerability, boundaries, anti-bullying, community responsibility, and accepting death as a part of life.​
